G R Iranna

G R Iranna was born in 1970 in Bijapur, Karnataka. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the College of Visual Art, Gulbarga in 1992 and his Master's degree in Painting from the College of Art, New Delhi in 1994. Between 1999 and 2000 he acted as artist-in-residence at Wimbledon School of Art, London.

Iranna has received numerous awards throughout his career including the MF Husain and Ram Kumar selection award at 'In Search of Talent' by Vadhera Art Gallery, New Delhi in 1993, the National Award from the Lalit Kala Academy in 1997 and the AIFACS Award at the show '50 years of Art in Independent India' in New Delhi in 1997. He was also the recipient of the Harmony Show Artist of the Year Award by the Harmony Foundation in 2004.

Iranna's solo exhibitions include 'The Dancer on the Horse' at Berkely Square Gallery, London in 2007, 'King of Clay' at Aicon Gallery in New York in 2006 and 'Disorder and Early Sufferings' at Gallery Muller and Plate, Munich in 2006. Iranna has also had other solo exhibitions in Delhi and Mumbai as well as in Hong Kong, Singapore and Cairo. He has participated in several group shows around the world and his works are in many important collections including the NGMA, Delhi.
