Gogi Saroj Pal

Since 1965 Gogi has held 30 solo exhibitions of her works, participated in 30 International exhibitions and 50 group shows in India. She was invited to participate in the 5th and 8th Triennale-India in 1982 and 1994. She was given the National Award in painting by the Lalit Kala Academy in 1990. She was awarded the jury's commendation at the International Biennale of Plastic Arts at Algiers in 1987, the Sanskriti Award in 1980 and the Cleveland Drawing Award at the Biennale in 1996.

She has participated in National Gallery of Modern Art Collection of Masanori Fukuoka in 1997, 50 Years of Modern Art by Vadhera at The NGMA in 1997, Women Artists of India At Mills College, Oakland, USA in 1997, A solo at Kal Art Gallery, San Francisco in 1997, the Kunst Rai International Art Fair at Amsterdam in 1999, the Asain Art Fair, Genoa, Italy in 1999 and a show at Admit One Gallery in New York in 2000.

Gogi's works are inventive, playful and passionate. Her work suggests a bold feminine intent, where she parodies earlier depictions of the Indian woman in painting and sculpture.

Gogi lives and works in New Delhi.
