BHUMIKA DANGE

Born in 1983 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. She graduated from International College for girls, Jaipur in 2005 with a BFA and did her Masters of Fine Arts from Rajasthan School of Arts, Jaipur in 2007. She has won the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi Award in 2007. She has participated in the 47^th National Exhibition in New Delhi, the 117^th All India Exhibition Bombay Arts Society in Mumbai and The AIFACS 80^th and 81^st All India Exhibitions among many others. The has held 3 solo shows and has participated in several group shows and artists camps. Bhumika Dange paintings have a child-like appeal. Done in a simplified and direct manner the figure stares back at the viewer until a response in forthcoming. At times the figure is wearing a mask and the viewer is greeted with a plastic smile. Newspaper snippets of past artists enhance the mood. She lives and works in Mumbai.
