Preeti Raja

In 1976, Preeti graduated with a BA Hons. in Graphic Design, faculty of Art and design, Bristol Polytechnic, U.K. From 1977 to 1990 she worked in Graphic and Media design in Kenya and U.K. Solo Shows at Hyde Park Gallery, London in 1993, Margate Library Gallery, Margate, U.K. in 1996, Negraj Gallery, London in 1997, Ndaui Gallery, Nairobi, Kenya in 1998, Art & Soul Gallery in Sandwich, U.K. in 1999, Open Studio at Sandwich, U.K. in 2000. In India she has exhibited at Crimson in Bangalore, Dhoomimal in New Delhi and at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai.
In her work, the key elements are the surface and the subject, threaded by time and space. She is constantly looking for subjects that have the potential to inspire an indefinite narrative. The way in which she endeavours to portray this narrative is to incorporate drawings that are layered with objects from the past and the present, and have metamorphosed along their journey.
She lives and works in London and Mumbai.
