Sendhil Kumaran says,” There are hundreds of beautiful mansions in Chettinad. Most of them were built in nineteenth-century. As a child, I was very much impressed by these Chettinad mansions which have been an inspiration for me to capture their beauty in paint. Some of these beautiful mansions were not able to be maintained by the current generation which in turn leads to their demolition. So, I wanted to paint these beautiful but crumbling mansions and preserve them in the form of Art.”
