Jagdeep Smart is a poet and an artist. An art professor, he’s also an authority on local puppetry. He populates his paintings much like a puppeteer. First setting the stage and then placing his several objects and figures till they occupy the entire canvas leaving very little room for negative space. He uses puppets as a metaphor for humans living out their passions, dreams as also their mundane preoccupations. A master colourist, Jagdeep Smart final tableau vibrates with life and colour.
